I believe most MMU students, especially Melaka campus, has received the death news of a brilliant student, Boo Jay Win.

His body was found at Jetty Melaka, after 36 hours of missing, with all his belongings were nicely arranged by the jetty there.

According to the police investigation, he was committed suicide due to high study pressure, not to mention he is also the vice president of Engineering Society.

Leaving his so called problems, his family, and his girlfriend, without any message. When his girlfriend saw his body, she almost jump into the sea, but was stopped by people around, while his family was crying sadly.

RIP? This is just not suitable to say it to you. How to rest in peace while you make the livings suffer? Live is not just about studying, get a god damn first class and A's, there are still a lot of things and purpose to live.

Billions of people want to live, but they can't choose between live and death; you can, but you chosen death, with an excuse which is not an excuse. Pressure is just not an excuse to give up your life, try to adjust your target you can find the world is not that hard to live.

For the living, please always encourage people around you. Life may seems short, but don't go through it; must life through it. For now, pray for the damage that he caused can be washed by time.

I feel my life is meaningful.

IT Salary has the sharpest increment this year!

According to Kelly Service Annual National Salary Survey, Information Technology sector and oil and gas sector are having the sharpest increment in salary, which their base salary increase by 30%**(from The Star Daily), and also introduced A LOT of new job title in IT sector.

Do this prove that my previous "joking theory" about increased oil price will kill IT employee is totally wrong? Maybe, haha.

It's good to see this result, as the employment is also increasing. It shows that IT sector in Malaysia is not going opposite direction, but is growing, rapidly.

The funny thing is, IT students are so little... And maybe demand and supply theory, not enough graduates to support the industry, so the salary increase to attract more people in IT....?

Many people choose IT at the beginning not because they want it, I believe half of it is because of their SPM result is not sufficient to take engineering or other courses, so they just choose IT blindly.

But wise say: "Without interest, it's very difficult to success".

Work hard for it, high salary == high pressure.

Mandarin -- Most Native Speakers Language

I just updated my knowledge about the most widely native used language in the world. Guess what? Is mandarin!

While my all-time-favorite secondary language, English is rank world no.3, unbelievable? Maybe, I don't have real travel experience, not sure most what most people around the world is speaking. So this discovery make me feel proud, as I can speak and write Mandarin, fluently!~

Malay as my country -- Malaysia's national language, is ranked 53. And I admit my worst language is Malay, no offence.

Wow, number's of languages in the world are so many. Will globalization kill those less-used languages in the future? It's up to the race to protect their own language.

This list is the language base on the most widely used native language, means the language that used as primary language.

Mandarin estimated has 882 million native, 178 million as secondary language, total = 1.05 billion.

While English estimated 375 million native, 1125 million as secondary language, total = 1.5 billion.

If counted with secondary language, English is still the world most widely used CURRENTLY.

Google coming in Malaysia?

I read this on LowYat.Net, our Boleh PM, Abdullah Badawi saying that Google( yes, is Google) is interesting to set up a base in Malaysia, due to Malaysia's policy.

I wonder what policy is that, if is about Malaysia's support towards ICT, go die. Malaysia, and the whole world knows that ICT is very important, and Malaysia is taking steps to set up MSC(recently changed to MSC Malaysia), so what?

Government hospital's staff don't know how to on PC; PTPTN website and database system is the worst system I ever seen, I believe the worst graduate can write a better one; everything is so manual in Malaysia, even our IC is chip base, but we all just use it as a 'card', government bank never offer online banking, and many more examples.

Although I do hope that this is not just hot air, as Google is one of my dream workplace, but to set a base in Malaysia which don't have enough IT graduates and professions, while Singapore already has a Google base.

Anyway, if Google is coming, of course we all welcome!

RMMU Carnival, Happy Birthday!~

Do you all know that MMU have their own radio station? Most people don't realize that, but this is the first online radio station in Malaysia, cool leh?

Not only the first, this radio station, RMMU which handle by DJ Club is even cooler! Why? It's just cool, no reason.

This week is RMMU's birthday! Me as just a working committee was busy these days, selling our own design of car signage, cool is it?

Yesterday, which is the first day of RMMU Carnival, we invited the Astro New Talent winner, Anthony Chang to perform and announce his new EP, Music Wonderland. Situation is not really really hot, as the weather is hotter. Many people bought his EP and queue for his autograph, left me, who pocket empty stand aside, take photo enough.

Today, is My FM Ford Rangers and 2 DJs(I don't really know, because every time I just on radio and listen, don't know the DJ). And as usual, "Rangers" will give out freebies, cheap freebies, like magazine, tissue paper, and stickers.

Questions need to be answered to win freebies, first question: who is the most beautiful DJ in My FM? Then is, Who is the tallest DJ in My FM? Who is the most handsome DJ in My FM? Who is...? And there is only the same answer.

Prices increase, wages remain.

I really salute most Malaysians who still can survive under this big pressure, especially those low-mid-range families.

During the last Hari Raya festive, price of enrich wheat flour was increased, from RM1.70 to RM1.80 per kg, or RM0.10, or 10 cents, if you can't understand that amount.

OK, we Malaysians still can stand for that 10 cents, but hate those companies who never consider their customers, like Gardenia bread, which they increase the price from RM1.90 to RM2.10 per loaf of bread!

1 Pack is JUST 400g
I am a regular bread eater, with jam, butter, but mostly eat it blankly, and I prefer the market leader, Gardenia.  After the 3 weeks holiday, I realized that all Gardenia's products were increase in price. From their small bun to giant size bread, all increase prices in a very abnormal rate. Even worst, the mighty size Gardenia Bread increased 30 cents! Look like I will say NO to Gardenia bread, until they do something.

Don't say I kiam siap, I know we all can afford 20 cents, but, what they can explain for the 20 cents I paid? Give to their share holder's commission? F**K OFF!! When the price drop again, their prices never drop.

All Malaysian companies who increase price with unacceptable rate during EVERY prices increase in raw materials are so SHAMELESS!

PLUS Toll
Do consumers know that, PLUS toll profit was almost RM1.13 billion this year? See the keyword, is PROFIT, not revenue, and is BILLION, not million. So why the fu*k they want to increase the toll?! Can't they don't know how important they are on Malaysia's economy? A 50 cents increase in toll charge will trigger RM0.50 in all items!!

Worst than pig! Brainless! All just for share holder's benefit, and those country junk minister like Sami Vellu.

1 day if I pass the toll, will give them all coins, in 1 cent!

If there is no consumers, your company will die, no matter how many investors you got. We are your key to survive, not your target to slash.

I search around that website, for some simple job which can be done at home, like typist. There are few queries, mostly today's opportunity. So curiously, I sent an e-mail to them, and they replied...

Shit, the same e-mail!
Yes, although I am not the victim, but keep seeing the same fraud make me piss off! The background operator(cheater) is what people call him Dr.Lim (not Uncle Lim), full name Lim Heng Kiap. Throughout the whole replied mail, they keep mention free, but the other side said need to pay deposit of USD 100, go and die!

The job is simple, just typing, reply mail, and search internet, and we will pay you, and you may learn something about internet too.

Here to remind you all never thrust any typist job anymore, all cheater! Last time I found on The Star, and e-mailed them, and because of curiosity, I searched the Dr. Lim's name, and all I got is complains about being cheated.

This "business" is actually a chain fraud. Dr. Lim, the playmaker, start the game, and find his "employees", then the "employees" who got "hired" will find their own "employee", from each level to another, they earn commission.

1 month earn 3k by typing only? Who else want to get degree?

Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize!

Former US Vice President, Al Gore, just won the Peace prize of Nobel. I knew he will get it, and he must get it, to ensure mankind future. This show that, Global Warming is no more a single person interest, is the whole world problem.

Although he won the prize, but he quickly phoned to UN(United Nation) chairman, Rajendra Pachauri, to meet up for their next steps to save this world. The original news is here.

United States don't sign Kyoto Agreement
US as the world richest country, from outside, look so advance, actually, do you know that US is the world highest Carbon dioxide contributor to atmosphere? Due to protect the economy of US, President Bush don't sign Kyoto Agreement. Even China with so high pollution also sign it, why not you! Fuck you!

Tonight, Malaysia will showing off to the world again.

Since Russia be the first country on Earth to send human to the space, the whole world is like addicted to this space-tech chasing game, one and one shot their machines, animals, humans, instruments up there.

Tonight, it will be our Malaysian time to show off! Our first astronaut,  Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar, will fly on space. As Malaysian, I do feel some proud of it.(Although this is just rely on our money, not our technology)

Hope when he fly up there, he will complete his tasks, no to play teh tarik on space station, and, hope he can come back safely.

Maybe most people think, this is just another waste of money, but, if a small amount of Malaysian can use this incident as their inspiration to explore the universe and make benefit to our country, the 130 million may worth it.

Electricity Failure in KL Sentral

Yesterday around 2 p.m., I entered KL Sentral.

Eh? Why some shop lots off the light? Because of Puasa? Then I kept walking, oh shit, why no people queuing for Putraline tickets? Ei, the ticket counter also off the light?! Puasa again?

Then I suspect it must be electricity failure, when I saw all the ticket vending machines show black screen...

Many people jammed at the Putraline entrance, as the entrance which powered by electricity were also down. The security guard there told us: You can pass this entrance, and when you arrived the destination, just pay at the counter there, and they will provide a manual ticket to you. (Don't suspect him, it's logic.)

And I do so. And no major trouble occur.

Clear.

Now I know why human cannot live without electricity.

Malaysia had just passed her 50 th birthday "peacefully", and the economic is improving (compare with 50 years ago), however, the racial problem is increasing(the dialog from the video).

Dell offer XP again: I though the "Wow" really started...

Dell is offering Windows XP again to the customers after more than 10,000 customers request for it at the feedback site, and the world leading PC manufacturer just said yes to them, just not to lose the customers. This options available for most desktop and laptop customization. (refer from LowYat.net)

Why they still choose XP?
Windows XP appear for a long time, since September 2001, it should be about 6 years old from now. Many users already tie to the interface, as during the long 6 years period, many applications were developed to suite the interface, and for certain users, they don't want to waste their time to re-learn  concept of Windows Vista and searching for compatible drivers for Vista, especially business users, who earn every second.

I understand the problem of drivers and application compatibility, but before the release of Windows Vista, there already been a 1 and half year of beta testing to public, is that 1 and half year not enough for manufacturers to develop trouble free drivers?

I am currently not a Vista user, so I can't experience the "no driver world" yet, but I willing to invest for the future, and I will stick to my plan to buy Windows Vista.

Singapore launches first "Bring Your Own Bag Day"

SINGAPORE, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Singapore on Wednesday launched the first "Bring Your Own Bag Day", aimed to cut use of plastic bags.
At many participating supermarkets, many shoppers were seen coming with their own bags. Those who did not have one bought the reusable bags for less than one Singapore dollar (about 66 U.S. cents) from cashiers who eagerly encouraged them to do so.
While those who needed plastic bags were requested to donate 10cents for each plastic bag issued to them.
Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA), the organizer of the campaign, said it was encouraged by the response of the first day.
NEA Chief Executive Officer Lee Yuen Hee said in a statement: "We are very encouraged by the positive response to the campaign. More people are taking interest in environmental issues."
According to the NEA, at a supermarket named Giant in Parkway Parade, response was so overwhelming that reusable bags were sold out by midday and new stock had to be brought in.
From now on, every first Wednesday of the month is designated as the "Bring Your Own Bag Day". The NEA has worked with seven supermarket chains to sell reusable bags and hoped to increase the low two percent of shoppers using reusable bags.
The NEA also hopes that more retailers will come on board.
But some residents said they are used to using plastic bags and it is hard to change their habit.
"Well not all customers are used to the idea of using reusable bags. It really takes time and effort to persuade them to change their habit. But we can't do it overnight," local television Channel News Asia quoted Gerry Lee, general manager of a supermarket named NTUC Fairprice, as saying.
According to the NEA, Singapore consumes 2.5 billion plastic bags each year. However, burning a ton of waste plastic bags produces almost 2,900 kg of carbon dioxide, the gas that causes global warming.

Malaysian government didn't show any obvious action to help protect environment, Just a lot of bullshit, then a quiet. Although some action like 3 colors recycle bin is everywhere, but not all Malaysian can "differentiate" color.... What a shame.

The million Ringgit loss in the Johore flood few months ago, is it really caused by Singapore's landfill project? Sound bullshit, although I am not architect. Anyone thought about why heavy rain kept poring down for days? Politicians just know how to point their fingers to others.

April 22, Earth Day- Time to appreciate what you have.

From a dusty explosion, and thousand of billions years of cooling down, and another billions years of evolution and extinction, and a high intelligent life appear on planet Earth--us.

With that high intelligent, from theoretically, we should make our earth become a better place to live, but, it's not really work like that. I am glad that I am not born in 50 or 100 years later, which is a year that I may not see tigers, lions, big trees, or our close biological neighbor, Apes, and I may need to live together with rubbish.

Even watch An Inconvenient Truth? An academic Award movie presented by United States Vice President Al Gore. Our Earth is dying, if no people willing to help her.

Even if you don't do it during normal day, please do it on 22 April, Earth Day.

1. Walk, instead of driving, to your neighbor, just 1 day.
2. don't take plastic bag, if you just buy 1 bottle of water.
3. Use fan, and turn of your air conditioning, just 1 day.

Just this day, one day, and if everyone can do it, then this day will save up 6.5 billion plastic bag and a giant huge amount of power consumption in 1 day, it's a huge amount of resource. (It sounds bullshit, but I do it everyday, really.)

Maybe all of us who live with a broadband connection still don't see the changes to the world, but it's changing, and only us, can fix it, and make it become better place to live.

Remember, we have only one Earth, for your children or whatever, protect her.

Things to know before study in Multimedia University, MMU.

OK, I state myself as a first year(Alpha Year) student in MMU, and all the information that I given here is purely based on my personal experience and observation.

I love computers. And I want to study Software Engineer in my Degree study, and MMU is definitely the best private university I ever seen, I never regret to choose this university. Here I am not going to talk about how to apply or what courses do MMU offer(you can get all these on MMU website, www.mmu.edu.my ).

What differentiate local university with private university? Cost, and races ratio. I know this touched sensitive issues, but it's a very serious problem to know before study there for years.

Discrimination
In primary and secondary study, both my schools are mostly(more than 99.9%) Chinese dominated, and I seldom mix with other races. Moreover, news like race discrimination and fighting between races in university and secondary schools always appear in media, I still remember the UM cases....

However, in private university that allow whoever can pay for tuition fee(or study fee) with not really bad result to enter the university, therefore, the ratio in the university is quite equal between races. This make the discrimination difficult to happen. My observation told me that MMU students are friendly.

Cost
People always said MMU is Money Making University, and their tuition fees is the highest top 3 in Malaysia. Why don't you check on Inti website? It's roughly the same as MMU tuition fee, plus MMU has strong attachment with the giant company like Microsoft, Ericsson, Motorola, and more. So when you seek for job, this may be your advantage.

Accommodation
Accommodation in MMU is ... more than enough. You can choose to stay in on-campus hostel(I strongly not recommend!), or choose off-campus accommodation, like Ixora Apartment, Emerald Park(EP), Bukit Beruang University(BBU) and more.

Ixora Apartment
I choose to write about this first, as I had stay here for almost 1 study year.
Pros: This is a beautiful place with swimming pool, tallest building in Bukit Beruang, nearest to MMU, and with a shade from Ixora to MMU, so worry for raining.

Cons: Expensive, lousy management, noisy voice from Indonesian students, throwing rubbish, eggs, and water bag from higher floor, and fatal accident happen here last year. Management like to control us, no girls allowed in boys apartment.

Emerald Park
Pros: Near to campus, especially to faculties building. 4-storey only(won't cause fatal fall).

Cons: Expensive rental, expensive fixed utility fees, but if over used still need to pay more(is that called fixed?) Environment in the apartment is dark, smelly, no place to hang washed cloths, look exactly like underground tunnel.

University Green
Pros: No restriction from management unit, beautiful and cool design, with swimming pool.

Cons: Quite expensive and far from MMU(about 15~20 minutes walk), no shade.

Taman Dahlia House
Pros: Cheap in rental, quiet. If lucky, can meet owners that provide electric appliance.

Cons: Quite far from faculties, no shade, a little bit deserted.

Bukit Beruang University
Pros: Quite cheap, no restriction(can bring girls to boys' house)

Cons: so far~~~

On-Campus Hostel
Pros: near, near, near.

Cons: 3 persons sharing room, very restricted, expensive, full of birds' shit, very smelly, noisy.

Transport and Entertainment
Hehe, I think I am writing the most interesting part... Ok, I admit that sometimes we need some entertainment. In Melaka campus, you can only find 1 movie theater in Mahkota Parade, and that place is obviously the most crowded mall in Melaka. Besides that, another higher class shopping mall, Dataran Pahlawan, was established last year, just right in front of Mahkota Parade. The nearest shopping center must be the Jusco and Tesco. These places provide daily utilities. For transport, there are plenty of buses passed by everyday. Just ask the bus driver about the location you want to go and they will guide you. Taxies are widely available in Melaka, but all are not in charge by meter, but purely on their mood. Sometimes I feel that travel in KL is cheaper than Melaka.

Hope these information can help those secondary school graduates to choose their campus rightly, especially those who want to enter by June Intake.

Yahoo! to offer unlimited storage

Today I visited LowYat.Net to search for some new threads, as usual, I will browse the latest news at the main page first. Wow! Yahoo! will provide UNLIMITED storage to it's e-mail service, Yahoo! Mail!

This surprisingly offer will start on May 2007, in conjunction with Yahoo! Mail 10 years anniversary. Back to 1997, when Yahoo! just came out with the e-mail service, I played it once, but during that time, e-mail functions still not complex as today, very limited usage, and, not to mention, a freaking small 2MB storage, can't even send a mp3 or photo.

Now, I am using Gmail from Google, just because of the 1GB storage space in year 2004 gave me a good impression about it, and until now, I still love Gmail.

Do we really need unlimited storage?
Since I started to use Gmail in 2004, I seldom delete my mail, unless the mail is junk or duplicated forwarded mails from friends. Gmail upgraded their storage in year 2005, and increasing. 3 years later in the future, or now, I just used up 24%(706MB) of my 2833MB storage.

With unlimited storage, people tend to store everything in their accounts. This is a new kind of pollution--digital pollution. More and more data stored in the online account, all sorts of information, useful or junk, all together, while in the other hand, the e-mail service providers keep adding storage to their servers...

Now Yahoo! successfully show something to Google, and sure Google will show something to it. (hope is the final release of Gmail, yea!)

Intel processors' prices will drop by April?

My friend saw an article at LowYat.Net, and he told me that Intel will coming out with their new price list for their high end processors--Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Core 2 Quad, by April 22, 2007.

That's my attitude. I don't like rumor. I want an exact answer. So I quickly Google for "April 22 Intel new price", and the first result is from RegHardware, a popular site about latest IT news.

Wow! Now I can target a higher performance processor!
Last time, I customize my PC(just customize on paper), and it cost me RM5000++ for that desktop. That time, because of limited budget (RM5k?, yes indeed.), I just target for E6400, and it cost RM815... Now with the new price list, I can use a lower price and get E6600! Yeah!

Instead of getting a cheaper price processor to cut down budget, I prefer to use my budget to buy better processor, for better investment, right? hehe.

I do some research on the Quad Core processor, and found that the price in Malaysia is much higher than the US price. At LowYat PC Zone, the Q6600 cost RM3360, RM400 more expensive than convert from USD.

Some upcoming processor like E4400, is a 2GHz, 2MB L2 cache, and support 800MHz FSB, while E6320 and E6420 will come with 4MB L2 cache.

Looks like Windows Vista bring a new revolution to the IT industry. The upcoming Pikom PC Fair at 14 April may have the least processor sell in the history, maybe.

Recently, I always received sms from friends who started to use a free SMS service from the web. This service is free, cool, and easy to use. It's called Mobik.

My event director start to use it to send SMS to us, my friends use it to chat with me(I know it's ridiculous), and advertisers use it to spread their products, an even "Ah Long" (High interest illegal loaner) use it to spread about their packages.

When you receive a sms, with the sender name "Mobik", and at the end of the message, will attach together with some products like Cola-Coca's slogan. This is why you can use the service for free. Advertisers start to invest in new type of advertisement, instead of traditional TV commercial and newspaper, since nowadays younger don't like to read newspaper.

Is free good really good?
For this question, I think for it for a long time. We all want free things, from operating system to software, we want free. But, some use this service commercially illegally, I think this is not fair to advertisers, as this will dry out their budget faster, but who care? People just want free.

Maybe in the future, every handphones will have preinstalled spam sms blocker, maybe.

Multimedia University feel earthquake from Indonesia

This morning, 2 powerful earthquakes has struck the Indonesian island of Sumatra, and can be felt in Malaysia and Singapore. The first earthquake struck at 6 March 2007, 10.49am in the morning, and the second strike 6 March 2007, at 1:49pm(both in local Malaysian time).

MMU Melaka was closed down because of the earthquake.
Due to some safety reasons, MMU security evacuated all the students from all buildings, and cancel all the lecture and tutorial classes. During the earthquake, I am still doing experiment about gravity  by using pendulum, at 5th floor of FBL building, and luckily I got 9.9m/s^2 for my gravity acceleration, still accurate.

I didn't feel the earthquake, maybe I leave the lab earlier, because I am in charging the security of open ceremony during Career Fair at 1:30pm.

At first, people spreading rumors that all students in FBL building were evacuated. I not really believe it, as I am more believe my own eyes and own ears. But more and more peoples talk about that, and I start to curious about it, until I saw this warning on the whiteboard behind Law School.

At first I think that that is some naughty student's masterpiece, but with a security guard beside it, and the whiteboard was blocking the road, like grabbing people's attention. Luckily our Career Fair still going on, and the visitors were so crowded, maybe people use the canceled class period to visit our event.
